A stable axle mount keeps your trailer tracking straight and true. This CE Smith U-Bolt Kit clamps your 2" wide, square axle securely to your leaf springs with four 4-1/2" long, 1/2" diameter U-bolts. Today we're going to be taking a look at the CE Smith u-bolt kit for mounting 2" square trailer axles. The mounting kit is going to attach a trailer axle to the leaf spring. The plates are going to be galvanized steel, then the hardware is going to be steel construction but that's going to have a zinc plated finish on it, so overall the unit is going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. This kit is going to include 4 u-bolts, 2 u-bolt plates, and then it's going to come with the appropriate hardware, so you're going to get 8 hex nuts and 8 washers, and those are going to be lock washers. We can tell that this is designed for 1 3/4" springs simply by taking a measurement between this hole and this hole, and we can see that- that measurement is right at 1 3/4". Now the plates themselves going this direction we're looking at 3 3/4", and then going this direction it's going to have a measurement of 4". It does have the center hole for punch out on the spring.
Then right here for the u-bolts, a couple measurements I want to go over with these, these are going to give us an inner width, measuring inside edge to inside edge, of just over 2" so that's how we know that there are designed for a 2" wide square axle. Center on center those posts are going to be separated by 2 5/8". The length, measuring from the bottom of this area here to the end of the stud, that's going to give a measurement of right at 4 1/2". Then the diameter of the u-bolts, so the thickness right here outside edge to outside edge, there are going to be a 1/2" diameter. That's going to do it for today's look at the CE Smith u-bolt kit for mounting 2" square trailer axles.

Best shipping and very thorough
I used this kit to replace the rusted ones on my flatbed trailer. I also flipped it so the axle is on top of the springs to lower it for loading my lawn tractor. See before and after pics.
Complete waste of time and money. I bought both springs, and this set of u-bolts plates from etrailer for a new 2" square axle. The u-bolts are too short. I'd suggest someone buy a new tape measure.
I also had to grind down the spring center bolt as it stuck out of the small adapter plate and kept the spring from seating correctly (used the adapter palte which came with the springs instead of drilling a big hole in my brand new axle.)
It is getting harder and harder to get the parts I need from these folks.
Now waiting for parts to come from another vendor.

Suspension is looking great, Jerry! I'd say you're ready to hit the road soon and head to the water.
This U bolt kit is nice and works well. They fit perfectly on my square boat trailer axle to attach my new leaf springs. I would recommend if it suits your needs.
